As Captain Georg von Trapp and Baroness Elsa wander round the garden, she is fishing for confirmation that he’s as keen on her as she is on him. Thanks to some canny script writing, he takes the bait and tells her she is lovely, charming, witty and gracious and a perfect hostess. Then he says, ’and in a way, my saviour’.
