Speaking & Events

Bryony Wood: speaker

Bryony is an experienced speaker having worked in Christian and secular media, chaplaincy, radio and churches of different traditions, denominations and sizes. She uses personal testimony and experiences that link biblical truths with the joys and challenges of faith. While she is primarily a passionate evangelist, she combines that with pastoral sensitivity, making her prayerful and approachable.

If you are looking for an experienced and dynamic Christian speaker, then Bryony can offer you a ‘Sound of Musings’ themed Sunday service or share an inspirational and biblical message to complement your church’s current programme.

‘The Sound of Musings Sunday Service’ uses the themes, music, readings, and Bible passages from the book (and the film that inspires it) to create an accessible and creative Sunday service that is encouraging for visitors and church members alike. With many years of experience leading churches across different traditions and denominations, Bryony will work with you to help shape the service that best suits your requirements.

‘Sound of Musings Live!’ is a 90-minute themed missional event that is encouraging, entertaining and accessible. It presents an ideal occasion for inviting friends and those on the fringes of the church, as well as your existing church members. There will be opportunities to sing along and make our own sounds of music, hear some of Bryony’s testimony, and listen to short excerpts from the book. Bryony’s primary calling is to show and share the love of God in ways that are gentle, honest and permissive. A ‘Sound of Musings Live’ event gives you a gentle way to introduce themes of life, love and faith, and works as part of your local mission programme. It also works well to launch the ‘Sound of Musings Bible study’ in your church and community.

All resources to plan and publicise your ‘Live’ event, as well as the six-week Bible Study are free to download from this website, including ideas for easy, themed refreshments.

‘The Sound of Musings’ is great as a missional resource, but did you know it works well as a discipleship resource, too?

Bryony can come to your church or parish event to share reflections and biblical links to help us dig a little deeper into our own journey of faith. When we plan such a discipleship event, we will consider what will work best in your context with themes such as ‘understanding our identity as a beloved child of God’, ‘facing adversity’, and ‘living the life you were born to live’.

‘The Sound of Musings’ could be the theme for your next parish weekend or as a creative addition to the programme at Christian retreat centres.

Bryony’s primary calling is as an evangelist and preacher. She honed her speaking skills through selling Tupperware(!), presenting radio programmes, and being a vicar. There is no fixed cost to any event; however, expenses are gratefully received, as is any ministry gift that honours the time and work involved. Let’s first dream together how Bryony and The Sound of Musings could bless your church and community; then, we can talk about practicalities.

What people say…

Jeff Lucas, International Christian Author, Speaker, and Broadcaster

‘A brilliantly creative way to explore vital themes that emerge from a classic film, Bryony’s writing is heartwarming, winsome and encouraging. Buy the book and enjoy a delightful journey.

’Revd Kate Bottley BBC Broadcaster and Anglican Priest

Bryony writes with humour and warmth as well as insight. You’ll never be able to watch singing nuns in quite the same way.

Rt Revd Martyn Snow Bishop of Leicester

“I have many happy memories of watching the Sound of Music with my children – it became the sound track to several family holidays. So I encouraged Bryony to write her own “musings” as a fun way of helping others reflect on life, faith and their “favourite things”. Bryony has a beautiful style of writing which will help anyone find God in the ordinary.”

Revd Canon Michael Mitton, writer, spiritual director, speaker, Canon Emeritus Derby Cathedral

“Bryony’s inspiring work on this much-loved musical draws out beautiful insights into the many and varied themes contained in the Von Trapp story. Anyone viewing the film after reading this book will find they won’t just be watching a movie, but will be embarking on an adventure with God!”

Tony Horsfall, author and retreat leader

“In this joy-filled book, Bryony has taken a familiar musical film and shown us how it speaks of God. Storylines and songs alike become windows to a deeper dimension, carefully crafted and beautifully written. A book to inspire and uplift, read it for yourself and buy it as a gift for someone special.”

Revd Frances Finn, Broadcaster and Church of England Priest

“Hooray! A devotional book, which has as much fun and joy as it does depth. This is wonderfully inventive writing, a celebration of creativity, and a rare affirmation of media and the arts. I dare you to read it and not want to climb trees while dressed in curtains.”
